1. What this is

Granny Flat Companion is a digital reference and compliance toolkit for people considering a secondary dwelling (granny flat) in New South Wales, operated by Kynric. It is an information product. It is not a planning service, not a certification service, and not professional advice.

2. Not advice, not a determination

Nothing on this site is legal, financial, planning, engineering, or professional building advice. The eligibility indicator produces an indication based on the information you enter — it is not a planning determination and confers no approval of any kind. Only your council or a registered certifier can determine whether your proposal complies.

Planning rules change, and vary between councils. Content is checked against primary sources at the time of writing and each item shows the date it was checked. You are responsible for confirming current requirements for your own site before acting on anything here.

3. Purchases and access

Paid content is sold as a one-time purchase in Australian dollars through Stripe. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.

An important, real limitation: this site has no login system. Access is granted to the browser that completed checkout, by way of a secure cookie, and is re-verified against Stripe on each request. It will not automatically follow you to a different device or browser, and clearing your site data may remove it. If you lose access after a genuine purchase, contact us and we will restore it.

4. Acceptable use

Paid content is licensed to you for your own use, including for your own building project. You may not redistribute, resell, publish, or share it publicly.

5. Liability

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to resupplying the content or refunding the amount you paid for it.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made about your building project, for application refusals, or for costs incurred in reliance on this material. Confirm your own situation with your council and a registered certifier.
